In Memory of Tracy Hom

December 17, 1964 - October 2, 2022

Tracy Allen Hom Age 57, of Chatfield, MN, formerly of Rice Lake, WI, died Sunday, October 2, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loved ones after a recent diagnosis of rare cancer, Cholangiocarcinoma on 9/28.

He was born on December 17, 1964 in Rice Lake to Wentworth “Bub” and Sandra (Strenke) Hom.

Tracy graduated from Rice Lake High School and then went to Police Academy. He worked for the Rice Lake Police Department for 32 years and retired as Captain in 2020. Tracy was married to Hope Larsen on July 31, 2010. He loved being with his family. Tracy, his brothers, and his dad spent countless hours at their cabin in Birchwood hunting. He looked forward to their annual deer camp for bow hunting and he was looking forward to bringing Brysen. Tracy enjoyed the countless hours of watching Hudsen learn to snowboard, running Brysen and Journie to school, sports, and horse lessons. Finally, in retirement, he was able to enjoy golf again and loved his golf cart and going with Dawson, Hudsen, Brysen, and all the neighbors in Chatfield, MN. He was disappointed that he not did get Hope out there yet and ordered the boys to get her to go. Tracy's true passion and what he cherished most about his time was his family. Lastly, we cannot forget the many years that he dedicated to protecting the community of Rice Lake as an officer and retiring as Police Captain. Tracy left a legacy that will never be forgotten. His love and caring spirit will be with us forever.

He is survived by his wife, Hope Larsen; his twins, Journie and Brysen Hom; 3 stepsons, Dawson (Ashley) Durst, Hudsen Durst and Brandon (Amber) Porter, and their son, Kadrik; his parents, Bub and Sandy Hom; 2 brothers, Troy (Mary) Hom and Stacy (Teresa) Hom; a sister, Amy (Nathan) Vlcek; nieces Samantha (Brian) Day, Nicole (Eddie) Trevino, Danielle Hom, and Whitney Fisher and nephews Matthew and Hunter.

He is also survived by many great-nieces and great-nephews.

A celebration of his life will be held from 10 AM to 2 PM Sunday October 9, 2022 at Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake. Tracy requested that you "come as you are," meaning dress comfortably and casually. In lieu of flowers - memorials would be appreciated to DreamShip Center. Upon retirement, Tracy enjoyed his work as a para-professional with autistic children.
