In Memory of Van Peterson
Van Peterson, age 79, a resident of Trego, died at his home on Wednesday, January 1, 2025.
Van was born in Spooner, Wisconsin to parents Glen and Iris Peterson on December 29, 1945. He graduated from Spooner High School and then married Wendy Hanson of Shell Lake. They moved to the Twin Cities where Van worked for NSP as a locator for over 25 years. Van and Wendy eventually moved back to Trego and built a beautiful, custom log home from the ground up by milling their own boards and using logs and wood from their land to finish and decorate their home. Van was a great craftsman in his day. Later in life he loved taking rides in his side-by-side with his dog Stella.
Van is survived by his daughter Carla (Dean) Chester, son Garrett Peterson, granddaughter Callie (Derek) Fuhrmann, siblings: Glenda (Gary) Kaiser and Brock (Charie) Peterson, brother-in-laws: Mike (Bev) Thomas, Dale (Kathy) Hansen, Keith (Teresa) Hansen, Brian Hansen, and several nieces and nephews.
Van is preceded in death by his wife Wendy, parents Glen and Iris Peterson, and his mother and father-in-law Dorothy and Russell Hanson.
Memorial services for Van Peterson will be held on Friday, January 10, 2025, at noon, at the Church of the Nazarene just outside of Spooner on Hwy 253 with Pastor Clifford Larrabee officiating. Visitation will be on Friday, from 11-noon at the Church.
In lieu of flowers, Van’s family would appreciate memorials be directed to the Rolling Hills Snowmobile and ATV Club, or the Church of the Nazarene in Van’s name.
