In Memory of Verjean Lois Schullo
Verjean Lois Schullo, 92, of Shell Lake died March 24, 2022, at Indianhead Medical Center. She was born November 6, 1929, in Sarona, WI at the family farm to Vivian and Mabel (Joseph) Sorenson.
She attended the State Graded School in Sarona through the eighth grade, then to the Spooner High School, graduating in 1947. She then attended Cosmetology School in Eau Claire and worked in Rice Lake until her marriage on September 9, 1950, to John Schullo at the Sarona Methodist Church. John preceded her in death on February 4, 1995.
Following their marriage, they resided in Sarona, then Spooner, and in 1956 moved into their new home in Shell Lake. They owned and operated White Birch Printing for 25 years along with the Washburn County Register for 15 years.
Verjean worked at Mil Shipman’s Beauty Sposh for several years and moved to White Birch when Mildred retired. After John’s death, Verjean worked six summers at Seneca Bean Factory in Cumberland.
She is survived by her son, John Schullo (Danielle) of Shell Lake; three grandchildren: Andrew Nelson, Eric Schullo and Ryan Schullo; three great-grandchildren, Izabelle, Logan, and Luke Nelson; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Verjean was preceded in death by her sisters, Bette Sholtis, Marge Celentano, and Naomi Beardsley; her daughter, Barbara (Garry) Gronning.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, April 2, 2022, at Shell Lake Methodist Church with Pastor Jean Waldron officiating. Burial will be in Shell Lake Cemetery following lunch. Visitation will be from one hour before the service.
