In Memory of William Barber


March 24, 1955 - December 15, 2021

William “Bill” Barber (Ayaabense), age 66, a resident of Webster passed away on Wednesday, December 15, 2021.

Bill was born in Siren on March 24, 1955 to parents, Franklin and Shirley Barber.

Bill was a graduate of Siren High School and went on to receive his 2 year certificate in Environmental Science. He worked in many capacities for the St. Croix Tribe for over 25 years.

He and Rose were united in marriage on January 16, 2001, in Siren.

Bill enjoyed rooting for the Minnesota Vikings, reading and video games. Bill was an avid collector of model cars and coins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Roberta and Cindy; brothers, Frank and Nelson.

Bill is survived by his wife, Rose; daughters, Mary (Memegwesi Sutherland) Barber and Holly (Nicholas) May; grandchildren, Rose and Anastasia; brother, Jimmy Barber; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at 10:00 AM at the Hertel Tribal Ceremonial Hall with Lewis Taylor officiating. Friends may call after 6:00 PM on Friday, December 17, 2021 at the Hertel Tribal Ceremonial Hall. Interment will be held at Sand Lake Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jordan Buffalo, Adrian Barber, Jimmy Barber, Memegwesi Sutherland, Nicholas May and Randy Phernetton.

Arrangements were entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home, Webster.
