In Memory of William 'Bill' Woebke

July 21, 1937 - August 10, 2024

William “Bill” Woebke, age 87, of Springbrook, Wisconsin, went home to the arms of his Savior on August 10, 2024.

Bill was born on July 21, 1937, in Chicago to parents Willard and Harriet (Ukrinski) Woebke. His family moved to Milwaukee at an early age where Bill grew up with his three siblings. After his schooling, he enlisted in the US Army and would serve as a tank driver in Germany. Following his discharge, he joined his father in operating the family’s neighborhood bakery.

Bill met the love of his life, Phylis Tripp, in fall 1968 and they were married on January 25, 1969, in Waukegan, Illinois. They began their 55-year marriage together in West Allis, Wisconsin, before moving to Springbrook in 1976. Later, Bill founded his own small business providing milk testing services to dairy farmers in northwest Wisconsin. Bill was passionate about spreading the gospel and aiding those in need, and helped lead a number of mission trips through Spooner Wesleyan Church, where he was a member. His work led him to serve faith communities in Brazil, Nicaragua, Haiti and Mexico, as well as those in the United States. Bill loved to laugh and joke with others, and was known for his goofy sense of humor and playfulness by his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Bill is survived by his wife, Phylis, children Lorraine (Mike) Love of Fairbanks, AK, Lisa (Jeff) Tubbs of Turtle Lake, WI, and Matthew (Alisha) Woebke of Rosemount, MN, grandchildren Michael, Anthony, Casey, Justin, Genevieve, Cleo, Juno, and Hugo, great granddaughters Lia, Alisa, and Abela, brother-in-law Jim Teske of Brookfield, WI, and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert, and sisters Lillian and MaryAnn.

Funeral services for Bill Woebke will be held on Friday, August 16, 2024, at 1:00 pm, at the Spooner Wesleyan Church with Pastor Ron Gormong officiating. Visitation will also be on Friday, from noon until 1:00 pm, at the church. Interment will follow at the Earl Cemetery.
