(DrydenWire) -- The St. Croix County Emergency Communication Center received a call at about 10:48 p.m. on August 16, 2023, reporting a motor vehicle crash with injuries on USH 63, at 200th Ave., in the Town of Forest.
According to the St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office, Deputies arrived on the scene and located a 2012 Nissan Versa which had been operated by Junior O. Carranza-Guerra, Age 22, from Clear Lake, WI. He had been traveling westbound on 200th Ave and failed to stop for the stop sign on 200th Ave. He entered the intersection and struck a 2015 Peterbilt Semi and trailer, operated by Kevin M. Petersen, age 29, from Porter, MN, who was traveling northbound on USH 63, according to the Sheriff's Office.
Mr. Carranza-Guerra was pronounced deceased at the scene by the St. Croix County Medical Examiner. Mr. Petersen was not injured in the crash.
Mr. Carranza-Guerra and Mr. Petersen were both wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
The St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Clear Lake Fire Department and Clear Lake EMS, Wisconsin State Patrol, and the St. Croix County Medical Examiner.
This incident represents the sixth traffic fatality recorded by St. Croix County in 2023.
This incident remains under investigation.
