MPS Accepts Responsibility for its Lead Problems, While Baldwin Blames Kennedy

Milwaukee Public Schools recently took responsibility for seven students that recently tested positive for lead poisoning. But that's not what U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin wants you to think. Baldwin recently blasted Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.’s responsibility to fix the problem in Milwaukee -- specifically his decision to clean house at the Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program in April.

Republicans Pitch Hospital Price Transparency in Wisconsin

Republicans at the Wisconsin Capitol, led by State Sen. Julian Bradley, Sen. Mary Felzkowski and Rep. Bob Wittke, are pitching a price transparency plan that they say will bring more competition and better care to the state.

The bill would ensure greater visibility into hospital costs with an eye toward driving down costs and bringing more hospitals in line with the federal price transparency rule.

JFCs Born: Budget Will Include “way more” than $60 Million for Special Ed

Joint Finance Committee co-chair Rep. Mark Born said that Wisconsin public schools can expect a multi-million dollar bump for special education in the next state budget. Gov. Tony Evers and other Democrats have been critical of Republican budget-writing efforts, saying Republicans would "only" be plussing-up special education funding by $30 million.
