Texas House Democrats Break Quorum, Bolt State After GOP Congressional Redistricting Map Passes Committee

At least 51 Texas House Democrats left the state Sunday, one day after a bill that would dramatically redraw Texas' congressional maps, House Bill 4, passed out of a state legislative committee in the GOP-led House of Representatives on a party-line vote. The House requires 100 members be present to conduct business, and the House only includes 88 Republicans. The Democrats’ action, known as “breaking quorum,” effectively brings the House to a standstill and prevents any consideration of HB 4 by the full chamber.

Fed Governor Kugler Is Resigning, Giving Trump A Nominee On Committee That Sets Interest Rates

Federal Reserve Governor Adriana Kugler announced Friday she is stepping down from her role at the central bank, creating an important vacancy at a time when President Donald Trump is pushing for lower interest rates. DHS Reports The First Measles Cases Confirmed In Wisconsin This Year

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services has confirmed nine cases of measles in Oconto County, marking the first cases in the state this year. These cases were linked to a common source during out-of-state travel. Testing at the Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene confirmed one case, while eight others were identified based on exposure and symptoms. The Department of Health Services, in collaboration with Oconto County Public Health, is actively working to identify and notify individuals who may have been exposed to the virus.

WEC Deactivates More Than 192,000 Voters

The Wisconsin Elections Commission announced today it has deactivated 192,369 voter registrations through the Four-Year Maintenance process required by law.
