WASHBURN COUNTY (DrydenWire) — A late-night traffic stop in Spooner, WI, led to a high-speed chase, foot pursuit, and eventual arrest of Dustin Lee Klopp, of Shell Lake, WI, on January 3, 2024.
Klopp fled from deputies during a traffic stop for a defective headlamp, reaching speeds of up to 120 miles per hour before abandoning the vehicle and hiding inside a railroad facility. Klopp was ultimately taken into custody and later charged in multiple felony cases, including methamphetamine delivery and fleeing law enforcement
Klopp, age 44, was sentenced on July 21, 2025, by Washburn County Judge Angeline Winton on convictions from his criminal charges.
