POLK COUNTY — Citizens of Polk County may soon be spotting the creative works of local students in their communities, as the Polk County Health Department announced the winners of its recent Youth Tobacco Prevention Poster Contest. The contest was held in partnership with the Western Wisconsin Tobacco-Free Alliance (WWTFA).
A total of 21 poster submissions were received by high school and middle school students. After careful review, three standout designs were selected as winners from each of the two age groups. First-place winners from each age group received a $300 VISA gift card, with $200 VISA gift cards going to the second-place winners, and $100 VISA gift cards awarded to the third-place winners. The winning posters will also be displayed throughout the Alliance counties over the coming months, in partnership with local community organizations. Residents can also view the winning designs at www.wwtfa.org, where digital downloads are available.
This contest was open to all middle and high school students from Barron, Burnett, Pepin, Pierce, Polk, Rusk, and St. Croix Counties. The contest gave students across the Alliance counties the opportunity to creatively raise awareness about the resources available to help individuals quit tobacco use, specifically through the Wisconsin Tobacco Quit Line.
The Wisconsin Tobacco Quit Line is a free service available to help individuals struggling with nicotine addiction. It offers a variety of resources to support people who wish to quit smoking or using tobacco products. The WWTFA is dedicated to reducing tobacco use throughout Wisconsin. The alliance works to promote healthy, tobacco-free living through community programs and resources like the Wisconsin Tobacco Quit Line.
