Sunrise: May 28, 1953 – Sunset: August 8th, 2025
With hearts full of sorrow yet anchored in hope, we announce Douglas Calvin Buerke entered into eternal rest on August 8th, 2025, at the age of 72.
Born May 28, 1953, in Duluth, Minnesota, Doug was the eldest son of George and Anita Buerke. He graduated in 1971 from Proctor High School and soon after, married his Pike Lake crush Jody Strom on April 28th, 1973.
Our Dougie loved his family first and foremost – he was our steady guy as a son, a brother, a husband, a dad and a beloved grampa. He is survived by his “sweet” of 52 years Jody, his son Peter and daughter-in-law, Francene and grandchildren Tricia, Erin and Samuel, his son Michael and grandchildren Oren and Ivy with their mom, Annalisa, and his daughter Amy. Also survived by sisters Liana, Cheryl and Donna, and brothers Dean and Randy. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters Rosie and Terry.
Midway through his years, Doug became a devoted follower of Jesus, and lived a life marked by faith, friendship and practical service to others – always willing to show up, to fix a light, hang a picture, plow snow, set up tables, lay a floor, build a ramp, grill burgers or do anything that just needed to get done, for anyone.
Doug was a faithful member of Crossroads Christian Church, where he served as Deacon. A Homegoing Celebration will be held on Friday August 15th, at 1pm at Crossroads Christian Church, 28509 Co Rd H, Webster, WI, 54893. Friends and loved ones are invited to gather in worship and remembrance, rejoicing in the assurance that Doug now rests in the presence of the Lord.
“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose.” – Romans 8:28
