In Memory of Edward T. Chaney

March 24, 1965 - July 7, 2025

With broken hearts we share the tragic passing of Edward Todd Chaney who lost his life in a motorcycle accident.

Ed was the life of the party, a storyteller with a quick wit, a generous heart, and a laugh that could lift anyone’s spirits. He was bigger than life, the kind of person you never forget. Whether you knew him for five minutes or five decades, he made you feel like you mattered.

Passionate about motorcycles, hunting, and time on Spooner Lake, Ed found joy in the outdoors and freedom in the open road. But above all, he cared deeply for people. He helped without being asked, listened without judgment, and always found a way to bring humor to even the toughest moments.

Eddie was the heartbeat of his community and beyond; a friend, a helper, and a light to everyone blessed enough to cross his path.

Ed dedicated his career to working as a project superintendent for DBS where he took pride in overseeing projects with skill and dedication.

He shared 25 years of marriage with his former wife yet lifelong friend, Laura. Together, they raised three wonderful children: JD, Billie Jo (AJ), and Tylor (Forrest). Ed’s love for them was unwavering; deep, steady, and fiercely protective. He served as a guiding force in their lives, always ready with wisdom, laughter, or a helping hand whenever they needed him.

Ed proudly held the title of “coolest grandpa in the world” to his beloved granddaughter, Everly. From the moment she was born, a softer side of him emerged. He would drop everything to be with her, always arriving with a smile, a story, or a surprise from their special treasure box. Their bond was rare and undeniable. They were truly two peas in a pod.

At the time of his passing, Ed was overjoyed to share his life with his fiancé, Brenda. They were perfect for each other; two souls who found in one another a deep connection and a true partnership. Together, they were building a beautiful life, filled with laughter, mutual respect, and shared dreams of a bright future.

Eddie is now reunited with his father, Edward Chaney, and his sister, Brenda, in eternal rest. He leaves behind his devoted loving mother, Darlene; his brother, Scott (Jess); and his beloved niece, Karleigh. Each of them will carry forward the legacy of love, laughter, and generosity that Ed so effortlessly shared with the world. Ed especially loved to make Karleigh laugh. He would pretend she was getting the wrong gift, only to surprise her with exactly what she wanted. It was one of the many ways he showed how deeply he cared.

Ed lived loudly and loved deeply a force of nature who always had your back. Bigger than life itself, he moved through the world with boundless generosity, a quick wit, and an undeniable zest for living. His selflessness was evident in every welcoming smile and every helping hand extended without hesitation. With a heart that loved unconditionally, Ed knew everyone by name and made it clear that people always mattered more than any task.

His gift was making each person feel seen, valued, and truly special. The void his passing leaves is tremendous, a silence where his laughter once echoed, a space where his spirit’s warmth once filled every room. Though his loss is profound beyond words, we carry Eddie forward in our hearts, in our stories, and in the way we choose to live with the same love and generosity that defined him.

A casual celebration of life will be on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at W5961 Spooner Lake Road from 11am to 5pm with a memorial service at 1pm. Please bring a chair and cooler of beverages. Parking will be challenging, consider carpooling.
