In Memory of Edwin C. Flanum, Sr.

June 11, 1944 - June 29, 2025

Edwin Clifford Flanum, Sr. was born on June 11, 1944 on the family farm in Deer Park, Wisconsin to Clifford and Hannah Flanum. He was the only son and middle of five children. After attending Amery High School for two years, he enlisted in the Army where he served from 1962-1965 in Germany, being honorably discharged to care for his mother and sisters after his father’s death.

Ed met the love of his life Linda (Tolzman) when spending time with her brothers. They were married on December 27, 1966 in Sisseton, South Dakota after driving through a snow storm to get there. Together they spent 58 wonderful years, raising two boys Ed, Jr. and Jeff.

Ed spent the majority of his working life driving a route truck for Keebler Corporation. After his retirement, he started Flanum Earthworks, his own landscape business where he did anything and everything he could with his skid loader. He also spent time wood working, gardening, camping, fishing and hunting. He was a jack of all trades and could fix most things, and spent many years as a handyman, caretaking for friends’ homes, doing yard work and plowing snow. He was a master craftsman and rebuilt their home over the years, custom making cabinets, tables and built-ins.

Ed always had a story to tell and loved to relive countless memories with friends and family, especially those from camping trips and cycle rides over the years. He enjoyed time spent with the kids, and especially loved having the grandkids around and teasing them whenever possible.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Hannah and his sisters, Delores and Rose. He is survived by his wife, Linda; sisters, Betty Josephson and Janet & Brantley Jaquish; sons, Ed & Sarah and Jeff & Beth; grandchildren, Claire, Charles, Allyson and Bode; and great-grandson, Finley.

A visitation will be held on Monday, July 7, 2025 from 4:00 to 7:00pm at the Williamson-White Funeral Home in Amery, Wisconsin. A family graveside service with Military Honors will be at 10:00am on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at Balsam Lake Cemetery in Balsam Lake, WI.
