
In Memory of Karen K. Zappa
Karen Kathleen Zappa (Kohn), age 84, of Comstock, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2025 in Wyoming, Minnesota
Karen was born in Crystal Lake Township, Wisconsin, and grew up on her family’s farm in Barron. She graduated from Turtle Lake High School in 1959 and worked for many years as a talented and dedicated hairdresser.
On March 16, 1963, she married Boyd Zappa, and together they built a loving life rooted in faith and family.
Karen was a long-time member of Christ Lutheran Church-Pipe Lake in Comstock, WI, where she was active in the Ladies’ Auxiliary group. She loved baking sweet treats, visiting with family and friends, and never missed watching her favorite Friday night wrestling. Her warmth, sense of humor, and giving heart made a lasting impact on all who knew her.
She is survived by her children: Brian (Sandra) Zappa and Sandra (fiancé Kevin Johnson) Pizzuti, Grandchildren: Trisha (Neal) Andrews, Travis (Grace) Zappa, Dominic Pizzuti, Anthony Pizzuti, Nicco Pizzuti, Great Grandchildren: Mia Andrews, Giovanni Zappa and Angelo Zappa, Sisters: Doris Fisher (Kohn) and Carole Stokes (Kohn); Brother: Ron Kohn; She was preceded in death by her husband, Boyd Zappa, and parents, William and Elsie Kohn (Kunkel).
A funeral service to honor Karen and Boyd will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, July 25, 2025, at Christ Lutheran Church-Pipe Lake in Comstock, Wisconsin. Visitation will be held prior to the service at 11 a.m. Interment and luncheon will follow at the cemetery at Christ Lutheran Church.
