April 2, 1960  -  March 18, 2018

Keith Thomas Gillis, 57, of Spooner passed away peacefully on March 18, 2018 at the Shell Lake Health Care Center with his family at his side.

Keith was born on April 2, 1960 in Kenosha, WI, the son of Kenneth and Karen (Palmer) Gillis.  He was raised in Winthrop Harbor, IL, and attended the local school district. He went on to Blackwell Trade School in Blackwell, WI.  Keith was employed by Structural Steel in Barronett WI, Lakeland Steel in Cumberland, WI and also Spooner Machine in Spooner WI.

Keith enjoyed fishing, hunting, racing and shooting pool.  He also enjoyed the occasional strumming of his guitar.

In 1990 he married Dixie (Ogren) Gillis in Spooner WI.  Joined in that union were Dixie’s children, Melissa and Kane Ogren.

Keith is survived by father, Kenneth Gillis of Spooner, his mother, Karen Gillis of Spooner, his sister Kelly (Tim) Leiting of Kenosha, WI and his brother, Kent (Michelle) Gillis of Spooner, and many caring aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.  He is also survived by Sheyanna who he thought of as a daughter.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 21 years, Dixie Gillis, and his grandparents William and Isabell Gillis and Joseph and Bernice Palmer.

A gathering will be held for Keith from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 14th at the Spooner Funeral Home.  A time of sharing will be at 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home followed by more fellowship and refreshments.
