
In Memory of Linda A. Liczkowski
Linda Ann Liczkowski (Lawson), born March 4, 1953 to John and Marjorie Lawson (Peterson) passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on May 30, 2025. Linda was the oldest of ten siblings, the only redhead, which earned her the nickname “Big Red”. Linda graduated in 1971 from Spooner High School where she then continued her education in Eau Claire, WI for Culinary. Linda met her first husband, Donald Lawrence, while attending school and they married in 1972.In January of 1974 she welcomed her daughter, Staci, followed by her daughter, Heather in 1975 and her son, Jonathan in 1976.
Linda met her second husband, Raymond Liczkowski, and they were united in marriage on November 1, 1982. She welcomed a step-son, Gary Thompson into her family.
Linda was a hard-working woman, coming home on weekends to help her parents at Papa John’s in Hertel, WI. Linda opened her own restaurant, The Redwood Café, famous for the Redwood Burger and the huge cinnamon rolls, yum. from 1979-1984. Linda then worked at Open Kitchen from 1985-2003, where she knew everyone that walked through the door and welcomed them with a hello from the kitchen. Linda was also employed at Nick’s restaurant, Tiptown and Terraceview Living Center. Linda worked hard all her life, she was a true example of a great employee as she never missed work.
Linda enjoyed baking, cooking, and making blankets for her grandchildren. Linda also had a love for playing the organ. Linda was strong, caring, and loving to all she knew. The rock that held everything together, the mother, grandmother and sister they could always count on and a great friend to many. No matter what she had going on she would put on a happy face and make someone else smile, or help them if she could, even if it was just to listen.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, John and Marjorie Lawson; her husband, Raymond Liczkowski; her daughter, Staci Birnbaum; and grandchildren, Kaylee and Liam Lawrence; John V. Birnbaum and son-in-law, J.D Birnbaum.
Linda is survived by her children, Heather (Roger) Zempel; Shell lake, Jon (Laurel) Lawrence; Shell Lake, and Gary (Doree) Thompson; Torrance, CA. Grandchildren; Staci, Aylissa (Matt), Ashley, Gracie, Jonathan, Riley, Aspyn, Celedonia and Aiden. Great -Grandchildren; Rowen Graham, Raelyn Zempel and Austin Hoff. Linda is survived by her nine siblings, nieces, nephews and extensive amount of family and friends. If you knew Linda, you were a lucky one, she had a heart of gold.
Rest in peace mother, sister, grandmother, nana and friend. This is not a good-bye, but see you soon.
Visitation will be at Skinner Funeral home on Thursday June 5, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. -7:00 p.m. in Shell Lake. Services will be held at Lake Park Alliance Church in Shell Lake with Pastor John Sahlstrom officiating at 10:00 a.m. for visitation and services to begin at 11:00 a.m. Linda will be cremated and interred at a later date.
