In Memory of Lola L. Brunette

September 16, 1959 - June 25, 2025

Lola Lee Brunette, age 65, of Rice Lake, WI, died unexpectedly at her home doing yard work on Wednesday, June 25, 2025. She was born on September 16, 1959 to Donald and Mary Jean (Backes) Holten in Amery, WI.

Lola attended school at Prairie Farm and later moved to Rice Lake in her late teenage years where she has resided since. She was married to Brian Brunette in 1979 and they later divorced but still remained friends throughout all the years. Lola worked for Nichols Homeshield in Rice Lake for many years where she met many of her friends who became like family. Lola took pride in any job she was tasked with and had a work ethic like no other. Lola loved helping her daughters, loved playing cards and games with her grandsons, gardening (her garden could feed her entire neighborhood and then some! She always loved sharing her crops.), tending to her well-manicured lawn, and pointing out and naming all her flowers to her daughters knowing they would forget all the names.

In the winter, you could find Lola painting the walls of her home and those of her friends “just for a change’, she loved to help anyone at any time. Although she always claimed she couldn’t bake, Lola was a fabulous baker and shared platters of goodies every Christmas. If she wasn’t at home, you could find her helping at The Bean Sprout or GreenLeaf Farms. She was looking forward to painting and cleaning at LynnDale’s Golf Course in the off season. Her door was always open for company, and the coffee was always brewing.

She is survived by her daughters, Janelle (Andy) Golden and Jessica (Frank) Kadlec; grandsons, Landon and Layne Myers and Garett Kadlec all of Rice Lake; her father, Donald Holten; 4 brothers, Bradley, Randy (Cindy Wirth), Lance (Gail) and Dave (Kim) Holten all of Prairie Farm; 2 sisters, Kay Holten of Prairie Farm and Daisy Schulze of Holcombe; along with nieces, nephews and many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her son, Jason Brunette; mother, Mary Jean Holten; and a sister, Ila Mae Nichols.

A private celebration of life will be held.
