In Memory of Marilyn K. Paffel

June 24, 1943 - August 15, 2025

Marilyn Paffel, age 82, a resident of New Richmond, and formerly of Spooner, died on Friday, August 15, 2025, at Westfields Hospital in New Richmond.

Marilyn was born on June 24, 1943, in Buehl, Minnesota to parents Joseph and Lola (Mayala) Monte. She attended and graduated from Buehl Schools in 1961. She then attended Duluth Business College and took a job in the IDS Tower in Minneapolis. It was while working here that a co-worker introduced her to Anthony Paffel, who she would later marry on November 8, 1963 in St. Paul, Minnesota. After their marriage, they settled in Spooner and began a family. They then moved to Columbus, Wisconsin where they continued to grow their family and where they owned and ran an appliance store. After a couple other short moves, they settled in Baldwin, Wisconsin where she worked at Faber-Tek and later at Eco Water in Woodbury until her retirement in 2005.

Marilyn enjoyed and took pride in her flower garden, creating crafts, was an avid bowler, liked to entertain and bake for her family and friends, and was a care giver to her family and extended family during health issues. She cherished every moment with her family and the pets she so dearly loved.

Marilyn is survived by her children: Duane (Cheri) Paffel, Brian (Terry) Paffel, Vicki (Dennis Corbin) Nichols, Marla Lynum, 9 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, sisters in law Kathleen Helm and Brenda (Allen) Zaloudek, and many other nephews, nieces, and extended family and friends.

Marilyn is preceded in death by her husband Anthony Paffel in 2005, brothers and sisters: June Thibodeau, Thomas Monte, Robert “Snookie” Monte, brother-in-law Kenneth Paffel and son-in-law Roy Nichols.

Funeral services for Marilyn Paffel will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2025, with visitation from 9-11am at St. Francis de Sales Church in Spooner, followed with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am with Fr. Ed Anderson as Celebrant. Interment will follow at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Casket bearers will be her grandsons: Carl Paffel, Nathaniel Paffel, Taylor Paffel, Joseph Paffel, Justin Paffel, Cory Paffel, and Christopher Lynum. Honorary Casket Bearers will be her granddaughters Toni Lynum and Jessica Whitted.

The family of Marilyn Paffel would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to St. Croix Health Care Center and Westfield Hospital in New Richmond, Wisconsin, for the wonderful care they provided to our mother. Your compassion and support during our time of need will always be remembered and deeply appreciated.
