
In Memory of Mark W. Shirley
Mark William Shirley, age 64, of Cameron, WI, died peacefully Sunday, March 23, 2025 at his home surrounded by loved ones. He was born on February 22, 1961 in Rice Lake, WI to George and Kathleen (Fredrickson) Shirley.
Mark graduated from Rice Lake High School in 1980. He entered the United States Army National Guards and served for 4 years. Mark had various jobs - building pools, Johnson Truck Bodies and then drove truck over the road for many years, which he truly loved. He was married to Cindy Matton Fallon on July 19, 2008 in Long Lake, WI. Mark was a very smart and intelligent man. He liked to learn, design, create and invent his own ideas and projects. He enjoyed working on cars, gun work, leather work, woodcarving, he made walking sticks out of diamond willow, loved working on his home in Cameron and in Michigan. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and being in the woods. Mark was a jokester and story teller. Mark had a heart of gold, cherished his family members and everyone that met him.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy Shirley; 5 children, Elissa Craine (Gary Schleiss), Jennifer Pfefferle (Steve Antczak), David (Megan) Sundvall, Nathan Sundvall and Vincent Shirley; 9 grandchildren, Dakota Tucker, Madison Craine, Keagan Tucker, Matthew Sundvall, Brooklyn “Bea” Antczak, Adalyn Sundvall, Dixie Antczak, Lehigh Antczak and Vincent Shirley; his father, George Shirley; stepfather, Dan (Donna) Gens; father-in-law, Ron Nyhus; 4 sisters, Marcia (Jerry) Sadowski, Lisa (Joel) Johansen, Linda Gruenhagen and Tammy Williams; brother, Roland Shirley; sister-in-laws, Melinda (Gary) Moen and Sherry Bellefeuille; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family members and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Kathleen Gens; mother-in-law, Marian Nyhus; stepmother, Amy Shirley; uncles, Marvin Fredrickson and Robert Fredrickson; and an aunt, Joan Shirley. Funeral Services will be held at 11AM Thursday, April 3, 2025 at Assembly of God Church in Rice Lake, Rev. Alan Klasi and Rev. Philip Halverson officiating, with interment in Nora Cemetery in Rice Lake. Visitation will be held at 4-7PM Wednesday, April 2 at Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake and for one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.
