In Memory of Sandra L. Bartlett
Sandra Lee Bartlett, 71, of Luck, WI passed away on August 23rd from cancer at the United Pioneer home in Luck surrounded by her family. She was born on April 14, 1954, in Frederic, WI to Willard and Arlene Johnson. Sandy was a wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. Sandy married her husband Bill in 1972. For a short period of time, they lived on an army base in Louisiana. While there they had their first child William. After Bill's service they moved back to WI and lived in the Luck area. She worked in Milltown as a seamstress. When her brother Bill (BJ) started up a farm in Frederic she worked with him, helping milk cows and other chores. She had names for all the cows, even when the farm increased to 100 animals. She really enjoyed working with the family and the animals. After the farm she worked in Luck at Colonial Craft until retirement. When asked what she was going to do after retirement she said she was going to work on fence. Yes, barbwire fences. Her fences were five wires and tight. She was the fencing queen.
Sandy in her younger years enjoyed drawing, playing softball and throwing horseshoes. She even drove a demo car a few times. She was involved with 4-H, church, and Luck Youth Wrestling Club for many years. She was always active. She would have us pick berries to make jams and jellies and cucumbers for making pickles. Hot days after working on the farm we would go to the lake for a swim. She convinced her husband to purchase land next to them to build a small barn to house a few horses. She enjoyed going for rides and taking care of them with her daughter. She would bring home many stray dogs and cats.
Sandy was all about family. She always put them first. Family gatherings were her favorite time. That was her greatest quality. She was known as the family historian. She would always say we are related to that person and explain how.
She was preceded in death by her father Willard Johnson mother Arlene Johnson, sister and brother-in-law Barb and Dennie Blazey, brother-in-law Bob Ferrise. She is survived by her husband Bill, sons; Will and Chris (wife Beth), daughter Karie, grandkids, Kaitlin, Karli, and Brett, brothers; Ron, Bill, and sisters; Marie Ferrise, Lori. She is also survived by several cousins, nieces, and nephews that she loved.
A memorial service will be held at Bone Lake Lutheran Church, East of Luck, on Sunday, September 7. Visitation will begin at 1:00 with a small service at 2:00pm. Burial will follow immediately after service. Snacks and time to tell stories will follow the burial. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to any one of the many charities that Sandy donated to: Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, St. Jude, Wounded Warrior, Make a Wish, Paralyzed Veterans of America, Shriners, Guiding Eyes for the Blind, March of Dimes, ASPCA, and Help Heal Veterans.
