John “Jack” Dennis Jungmann, age 92 of Clear Lake, WI died on Monday, June 23, 2025, at this home with his family by his side.
John Dennis Jungmann was born on July 31, 1932, in North St. Paul, MN the son of Oliver & Frances (Jewell) Jungmann. He grew up there and attended North St. Paul High School. In September of 1951, Jack joined the US Navy and served on the destroyer escort USS Formoe during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge from military service in 1955, he returned to North St. Paul and worked as a sheet metal fabricator in the Twin Cities. On February 2, 1957, Jack was married to Darlene Hawkins at the Washington County Courthouse. Together they made their home in North St. Paul and raised 5 children: Debbie, Kathi, Jeff, Ron & Brenda. Jack was active in the community there, attending church, serving as Commander of American Legion Post 39 and helped in the construction of the Big Snow Man landmark overlooking Highway 36.
Jack & Darlene moved to Clear Lake, WI in 1976 where they owned and operated the Corner Bar for 4 years. During this time, he continued to work as a sheet metal fabricator, and later farmed, delivered the newspaper, white-washed barns and eventually retired as a slot technician at the St. Croix Casino in Turtle Lake. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening, woodworking, mowing lawn, cribbage, shuffleboard, reading and jigsaw puzzles. Jack was an active member of First Lutheran Church in Clear Lake, serving on the church board for many years. Jack’s devotion to our God included daily devotions and Bible scripture readings. He was a faithful and devoted servant and we know we will see him again. He enjoyed spending winters at their place in Lakeland, FL and captaining his pontoon at Camp Brigadoon Campground in Cumberland. Jack will be sorely missed by his family and many friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials.
