In Memory of Marilyn M. Strop
Marilyn Strop, age 81, of Barron, beloved wife, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Barron.
Marilyn was born on October 19, 1943 and was united in marriage to LaVern Edward Strop on December 4, 1965, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rochester, Minnesota. Together, they shared a devoted and loving marriage of over 54 years until LaVern’s passing in 2020.
Throughout her life, Marilyn embodied quiet strength, kindness, and grace. She worked as a nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester and then for the school district of Kasson.
Together, she and LaVern built a life grounded in faith, love, and simple joys. Marilyn shared in LaVern’s love for the outdoors—gardening, fishing, and enjoying the natural beauty of the lake and their home. She will be remembered for her gentle heart, her devotion to family, and her unwavering faith. Marilyn’s presence was a blessing to all who knew her, and her memory will live on in the hearts of her loved ones.
She is survived by her sisters, Helen (George) Strop and Marjorie Manahan, both of Rochester, Minnesota; brother-in-law, Frank Strop of Crossville, TN; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Marilyn is now reunited in eternal peace with her husband, LaVern; parents; 4 sisters and 2 brothers.
A private family graveside service will be held at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner at a later date.
